Key Features of the E-Bike Scheme 2025

1. Subsidy and Budget Allocation

The government has allocated ₨9 billion for the initial phase of the scheme. Each e-bike will be subsidized with ₨50,000, making it affordable for students, women, and the general public.

2. Easy Installment Plan

Under the scheme, 116,000 electric bikes will be offered through a two-year easy installment plan. Citizens aged 18 to 65 years can apply for these bikes. This model is designed to make electric mobility accessible to the majority of Pakistan’s population.

3. Online Registration and Transparent Selection

Applications will be submitted online, and the selection process will be carried out through a transparent ballot system. This ensures fair distribution and maximum outreach.

4. Electric Vehicles for the Future

Apart from e-bikes, the scheme also aims to facilitate:

  • 99,155 electric cars

  • 2,238 electric buses

  • 2,996 electric trucks

This is aligned with the 2030 target of converting 30% of Pakistan’s vehicles to electric, significantly cutting fuel imports and environmental pollution.

Environmental and Economic Benefits

  • Reduced Fuel Costs: E-bikes cost significantly less to run compared to petrol bikes.

  • Lower Emissions: A move towards eco-friendly transport helps reduce Pakistan’s carbon footprint.

  • Job Creation: EV manufacturing, maintenance, and charging infrastructure will open new job opportunities.

Future Outlook

With this scheme, Pakistan aims to provide 2 million e-bikes by 2030, which will bring massive improvements in urban mobility and contribute to the country’s commitment towards sustainable development.
